Workshop on System Administrator on UNIX/Linux Platform (Batch-1)

INTRODUCTION:
Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) is the NREN of Bangladesh. This is a project of Ministry of Bangladesh under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project funded by World Bank. Implementing agency of this project is University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. BdREN organizes different capacity building activities over the year for his stakeholders to develop technical skill of IT peoples. In continuation of this, BdREN organizing training program “System Administration on Linux platform” at two separate batch on 23-24 and 26-27 July 2017. BdREN has a good Technical Team of professionally skilled network engineers, which makes it very much capable for hosting such training events in association with other renowned local technical resource persons as trainers/assistants.

OBJECTIVES

  • This workshop is designed for engineers and system staffs working at ISPs or large networks including academic network, R&E network and enterprise network especially involved with system and service management, network monitoring and management and problem response and troubleshooting.
  • The course is for those who need to administrate system and network services in open platform especially in UNIX system.
  • The course will help to configuring and administration of network service like DNS, mail and web in Academic Network, Service provider and corporate network environment.

Workshop Goals

  • Train University's IT staff on administering Unix/Linux systems
  • Basic concept on Desktop Virtualization
  • Basic concept on Linux networking
  • Learn to implement basic Unix/Linux services which include configuring DNS, Web, Mail Server

TARGET PARTICIPANTS:
The workshop is targeted for the network/system professionals from the different universities and research institutions in Bangladesh.

Requirements

  • Linux Basic, Networking Basic and Command Line Interface (CLI) experience.
  • A laptop (Windows, MAC or Linux) with virtualization support
